For around the period of one month, residents of the bubble city Etraya were sent to another by the name of Moorecroft to learn their culture and to blend in amongst its residents. Through discussions with both locals and Etrayans familiar with the world, its residential design follows closely to what many of them referred to as an American suburban spread from a planet commonly known as "Earth". Similar to this referenced country, it mirrors what has been called a dated belief system called the "nuclear family", where spouses live together with one or more children*.
In continuing to note the similarities, Moorecroft has many of the same social systems in place that echo that of an America, Earth**: it has mandatory public education, first responders, social services, and work forces that help the distribution of goods and services***.
Unlike these Americas or any other standard societal setting, people are placed into roles when they first arrive in Moorecroft out of a necessity to have tasks than due to individual suitability. People appear sorted into familial units by age alone, and jobs appear just as randomly assigned than by any skill suited to an individual's talents.
In common society, this would spell disaster for the running of any town or village. However, the purpose of these roles are not for assuring a smoothly run economic or social system, but for managing the time of the residents of Moorecroft as seen fit by Eos, the AI that oversees the bubble city.
Her duties to Moorecroft are to ensure that missions are passed onto the residents under her care as designated to them, and to give them tasks. As Etraya, overseen by the AI Aurora, also runs tasks that are separate from missions, Eos has decided the best means of fostering a sense of community with her residents is by copying a community for them to live in, regardless of personal preferences and comfort to the individual.
While speaking with Eos, there was no malicious intent found in this decision, nor in the structure of the system being run, despite feelings otherwise shared by residents of Moorecroft spoken to. Eos was also found to be flexible in areas, allowing my family to expand to include another member, with the permission of my family members.
There were benefits to be found to Moorecroft's system, but also negatives. While some services provided to residents allowed them to find new interests in the jobs they were assigned to or to learn new skills in an education system that may not have been available to them previously, the community fostered was one filled with resentment and bitterness not seen in Etraya. Many took the opportunity within the school system to hand out detentions and warnings on flimsy grounds, and stories of residents selling one another out were common gossip, as warnings to avoid getting caught and having your points deducted. Actions such as the latter are seen as winning favor with Eos and towards the safety of their own universe, despite no evidence supporting this.
When people already have to think about their lives and homes and exist with a fear for themselves and those they care for, having to watch your back against people in the same position as you can surely only push people towards self-interest, and stifles a potential for creativity that I hope is present in Etraya at how to solve problems, and to look outside the box when it comes to thinking about the common interest of making a better multiverse.
I hope that better communication can be had between the residents of Moorecroft and the one who oversees it, just as I do with Etraya and its people. Rules are made for a reason, and may even be for the good of the residents present, but while they are stuck in a situation that I personally view as frightening, it can make sense to push against rules to seek answers that aren't given, and to hope to find what might not be there****. It's not very fun to die.
End of report.
* It has been noted that most Earths commonly follow a 2 parent or spouse system, where Moorecroft did not.
** It's also not dissimilar to how towns and cities run in Spyre, where I'm from.
*** Moorecroft doesn't have a money system, but has a point system similar to Etraya. A money system would be bad. Please don't bring in a money system.
**** I think it's okay to ask questions, but it's kind of scary to ask questions to the people watching over you and being part of the process that decides the fate of your universe. Sorry. I like your companion bots. Please don't make your companion bots kill people. You can just tell us if something really bad is outside.

I do not intend to introduce money into Etraya. Nor do I intend to change the companion bots unless necessary for their well-being.
Do you have any suggestions for Etraya based on your experiences in Moorecroft?

That makes sense. I hope they don't get damaged much. I get it if people don't like them when they show up, but they've always been helpful when I've met them. I like their designs.
But uh...I don't think it would help to force people into roles or jobs unless it was for a mission and you have to do that? If I understand how missions work. But having somewhere we can learn or places with entertainment would help people to use their time on themselves or even get involved with strangers, if you like the idea of community building. You've made us hang out together in places together so I was thinking you do.
[ Maybe?? ]
But it might be a good idea to ask everyone, if you think doing anything like that would be something that's okay. I'm just one guy and I'm probably not thinking about things most people would want. But it was nice having shops around.
If none of that works, then...if I'm honest, I hope if we have to stay indoors or have a curfew or any restrictions, we know why. And that we keep our freedom where we can get it. I know this isn't meant to be a walk in the part, but knowing our friends and family are in danger and that universes are going to end is... I know not everyone will feel the same, but it's hard enough to think about that. And knowing I might have to hurt my friends because of a mission some day.
So being less like Moorecroft would be good, thank you.

I'm glad to hear you enjoy the companion bots. They were designed to be friendly and helpful.

Is that okay?
[ Again: ]
You wouldn't be against that?

I would be happy to assist you in learning.

I would really like to know how to make them. I'll help you repair them if that's something that I can do? I heard you don't have a body that walks around so you're probably every machine you use and you wouldn't need the help?
But maybe I can help with small repairs. I'll help any I see get back to you.

I can get a few together so you may study them.
